In this role you will, contribute significantly to the department’s mission through a balanced portfolio of research, teaching, and service.
Key responsibilities include:
Research Leadership:
- Develop and maintain a nationally recognized, externally funded research program in robotics and automation. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Autonomous systems and intelligent robotics
- Soft and bio-inspired robotics
- Wearable and assistive robotics for healthcare
- Human–robot interaction and collaborative robotics
- Robotic manipulation and locomotion
- Mechatronics, sensing, and control
- Manufacturing robotics and systems integration
- AI and machine learning applications in robotics
Teaching Excellence:
- Deliver high-quality instruction in mechanical and/or aerospace engineering courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Engage students through innovative teaching methods and contribute to curriculum development.

- Mentorship and Leadership (for Associate or Full Professor candidates):

MAE at NC State University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month Teaching Faculty position at open-rank levels (Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor). Appointments at the Associate or Full Teaching Professor levels will be considered for exceptional candidates. These are permanent, non-tenure-track positions with full university benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
Course Instruction
- Teach undergraduate courses in core areas of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering courses, which may include:
- Engineering mechanics (statics, dynamics, strength of materials)
- Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
- Mechanical design and manufacturing
- Systems dynamics and controls
Curriculum Development
- Collaborate with faculty to develop, revise, and improve course content, instructional materials, and laboratory experiences to enhance student learning and program outcomes.
Student Engagement
- Provide academic advising, mentorship, and career guidance to students. Engage in activities that promote student success and retention.
Instructional Innovation
- Incorporate active learning strategies, modern pedagogical tools, and technology-enhanced instruction. Participate in departmental and university-wide teaching initiatives.

- Contribute to departmental service, including committee participation, outreach, and recruitment efforts. Collaborate with colleagues across the department, college, and university to support the educational mission.
