Our internal, curated email contact list was created from our own research as well as by aggregating other public diversity talent pools such as the UC President's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, Ford Fellows, etc. Recognizing that postdocs turnover frequently, we keep our contact list current with only active email accounts. Our DiverseScholar Doctoral Directory was created by having postdocs from our email contact list respond to a survey and send us their CV/resume. Demographic information about an earlier Doctoral Directory cohort is below.
From a NSF InfoBrief describing the 2009 national postdoc population, in the Science and Engineering fields, only 44.5% of postdocs were U.S. citizens or permanent residents and only 34.7% were women. Thus, our Doctoral Directory is enriched for domestic (>90%) and female (>60%) postdocs relative to the national pool.
