Multiple Faculty Searches - Department of Physics

Physics Department

The Physics Department at the University of California, Berkeley is actively recruiting for three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions. These searches are in the following areas:

  1. Soft Condensed Matter: This position is open to all sub-fields of soft condensed matter, broadly defined, including but not limited to non-linear physics, nonequilibrium statistical physics, non-biological soft condensed matter physics, and related areas of biological soft condensed matter physics. Applications from both experimentalists and theorists are welcome. aprecruit.berkeley.edu/JPF05124
  2. Atomic Physics Theory: We welcome applicants from the full range of topics, including quantum simulation, many-body quantum mechanics, emergent phenomena and entangled systems, connections to quantum information science, quantum optics, precision measurement and tests of fundamental physics, ultracold molecules and chemistry, ultrafast optics, and others. aprecruit.berkeley.edu/JPF05147
  3. Open Search in Theoretical Physics: This is a broad search in theoretical physics with particular emphases in theoretical particle physics, plasma theory and computation, and theoretical condensed matter physics. aprecruit.berkeley.edu/JPF05037

If your research area overlaps with another search, candidates should submit applications to each relevant search separately. Please note that applications cannot be transferred between searches.

To guarantee full consideration, applications must be received by November 14, 2025. All reference letters will be treated as confidential per University of California policy and California state law.
