Assistant Professor - Energy Science and Engineering (Geothermal and/or Hydrogen Subsurface Engineering)

The Department of Energy Science and Engineering (ESE) at Stanford University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level. We are seeking exceptional candidates with a strong commitment to research and teaching in the broad area of sustainable subsurface energy systems, with a particular emphasis on geothermal energy and/or subsurface hydrogen production and storage.

Statistics: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Statistics and Data Science (initial review Dec. 1, 2025)

Position overview

Salary range: Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. A reasonable estimate for the annual salary range (academic year, nine-month basis) for this position is $125,000 - $140,000 for Assistant Professors; $145,000 - $165,000 for Associate Professors; and $170,000 - $200,000 for full Professors.

Anticipated start: July 1, 2026, with the academic year beginning in September 2026. Degree requirements must be met by June 30, 2026 for employment effective July 1, 2026 and beyond.
