Brown Univ Publish Health logoThe Epidemiology Department within the Brown University School of Public Health invites applications for Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenure-track or tenured). The position will be available July 1, 2019. Brown's School of Public Health is an important new undertaking by one of the nation's leading universities. The Department includes 12 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 4 additional research and teaching faculty, and trains both master's and doctoral students in epidemiology. Departmental faculty research focuses on environmental health, global health, HIV and other infectious diseases, substance abuse, cardiometabolic health and obesity, cancer, child health, mental health, genetics, nutrition, population-health, and epidemiologic methods. Current research in the Department includes both laboratory-based investigations and population-based studies in the United States, South Africa, Samoa, Canada, China, and Brazil. Substantive areas of interest that the Department wishes to enhance through this search include, but are not limited to: aging (including neurodegenerative disorders), pharmacoepidemiology, pediatric or perinatal epidemiology, big data, and infectious diseases.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, MD/PhD, MD/MPH, or equivalent, with evidence of rigorous training in epidemiology, peer-reviewed publications, and a demonstrated capacity to secure external funding. The Epidemiology Department offers both master's and doctoral degrees and the successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses in epidemiology and to mentor students. The level of the academic appointment will depend upon the overall experience, publication record, and external funding history of the candidate. Applicants for the Associate Professor level must also have a national/international reputation, an independently funded program of research, and a proven track record of leadership in research, teaching, and professional service.
