The Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (biology.charlotte.edu) seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning August 15th, 2022. Required qualifications for this position include: a Ph.D. in the biological sciences or related fields with expertise in working at the interface of biology and the environment including studying interactions between any organismal systems, taxonomic groups or biological systems and the environment; proficiency in the discipline by a record of postdoctoral training and peer-reviewed publications; potential to secure extramural funding; as well as commitment to teach and mentor a diverse student population at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Special consideration will be given to applicants who use state-of-the-art genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and/or metabolomic approaches. Desired qualifications are previous teaching and mentoring experience, evidence that the candidate has promoted diversity through outreach to the community, and a commitment to working with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain an independent, externally funded, research program including students. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of Biological Sciences through instruction of undergraduate and graduate courses.
