The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Division of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD; chemistry.ucsd.edu) is seeking applications for outstanding faculty at the Associate or Full Professor level. UC San Diego is forging a new paradigm for engagement and collaboration between STEM/Public Health/Health Sciences and the Social Sciences/Arts & Humanities (af-amstudies.ucsd.edu/faculty-recruitment/index.html). This faculty line is one of 13 ladder-rank faculty positions that unites STEM/Public Health/Health Sciences departments and African American and the Black Diaspora Studies through innovative research, coordinated teaching, and/or targeted service. Faculty will have multiple opportunities to engage with scholars across UCSD disciplines to address issues of race and racism, access and equity, and social and political influences focused on STEM/Public Health/Health Sciences, while also working within their home departments and professional communities.
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry has a rich history of interdisciplinary research and thus, all research areas within chemistry and biochemistry will be considered.
In addition to a successful research program in chemistry and/or biochemistry, candidates are expected to establish an impactful record of teaching at the lower division, upper division, and/or graduate-level courses in chemistry/biochemistry.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidate with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline.
Candidates with a strong record of successful mentorship and a record of service activities that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Candidates who have created or contributed to programs that aim to increase access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences.
