Assistant Professor in Biology (2 positions)

The Department of Biological Sciences at Smith College is recruiting for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions, in Plant Physiology and in Quantitative Ecology, to begin in July 2012. We seek dynamic candidates committed to research, teaching, equity and inclusion, consistent with the values of the institution. A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment, postdoctoral experience is desirable.

Quantitative ecology:

We seek investigators focusing on ecological phenomena at any scale, combining experimental or field measurements with quantitative analysis, theory, or modeling. Teaching responsibilities: participation in our introductory Biodiversity, Ecology and Conservation course; an intermediate-level ecology course, and an upper-level course in the candidate’s area of expertise. Plant physiology:

We seek investigators focusing on plant physiological processes and their implications for plant growth, development, function, adaptation, distribution or evolution. Teaching responsibilities: participation in our introductory Molecules, Cells and Systems course and/or an introductory plant function, and diversity course; an intermediate-level plant physiology course and an upper-level course in the candidate’s area of expertise.
