NIAID Postdoctoral Fellowship - Bioinformatics

The Biodefense Research Section’s Yeast Engineering Technology and Immunobiology Core Lab (YETI) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Vaccine Research Center, (VRC) located on the main National Institutes of Health (NIH) campus in Bethesda, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow or more junior scientist with extensive sequence analysis and computational expertise to help lead studies in the areas of antibody development, antibody/immunogen engineering, and virus evolution. Emphasis will be on viral pathogens (including coronaviruses, Ebola virus, influenza, RSV, and HIV) and will utilize computational analyses, next-generation sequencing (NGS) approaches, and yeast display technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Course of study (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree) in molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, immunology/microbiology, or related discipline.
  • Detailed understanding of sequencing principles, methods, and analysis tools.
  • At least 2 years analyzing NGS data, including Illumina and Pacific Biosciences data.
  • Proficiency in Unix shell scripting/R and in use of command-line tools. Experience with Python/Perl is highly preferred.
  • Experience setting up analysis pipelines and scripts.
