The Gannon University Department of Biology is seeking applications to fill a full-time, 9-month, tenure track assistant professor position beginning August 2022. We are seeking a biologist to teach introductory anatomy & physiology courses for nursing and health science majors, as well as courses across the biology curriculum and in the applicant's specialty. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and perspectives that integrate multiple aspects of the biological sciences. Responsibilities include teaching 24 credit hours in the academic year and undertaking scholarships with undergraduate students and as defined by the Boyer model. Successful candidates will also be expected to participate in academic advising, professional development, and service activities to support the University, community, and profession. Requirements include an earned doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in biology or a related field. Candidates must display effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills and an ability to be an effective team member. Candidates must be able to meet the physical and technical demands of a busy office, classroom, and laboratory setting.
Gannon University is located in the heart of downtown Erie, Pennsylvania, along the shores of Lake Erie. Erie is a regional tourist destination boasting 11 beaches, a wide variety of seasonal activities, professional sports teams, a professional symphony, multiple venues for live theater and music, and many other entertainment options. Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo are located within a two-hour drive from campus. The Biology Department at our Erie, Pennsylvania campus is housed within the School of Sciences in the Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences.
