Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $47,700 per year PLUS benefits. The postdoc will also receive at least $2,500 for professional development each year.
The Department of Psychology at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP) seeks to fill two Minority Postdoctoral Fellowship positions, each to serve a two-year fellowship beginning in August 2017. USFSP is a Master’s granting, regionally accredited institution within the USF System and seeks to have 10,000 students by 2020. The department has approximately 400 undergraduate majors and a Master’s degree program in experimental psychology with a track in risk, resilience, and prevention.
Postdoctoral Fellowship - Examining the Role of Motivational Value on Attentional Biases (Job Opening Id 11454)
The successful candidate will be involved in new and ongoing experiments investigating the mechanisms through which value-prediction directs attention and biases what we attend to and ignore in our visual world. The postdoc will work closely with the project leader and collaborators to investigate the role of value learning on attention bias and how this interacts with the dopamine system in the brain using both behavioral and electrophysiological (EEG) methods.
Doctoral degree in cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, neurobiology, or a related discipline. Experience with EEG/ERP analysis programs (e.g., Neuroscan, Netstation, EEG/ERPLAB), stimulus presentation programs (e.g., E-prime, PsychoPy, Psychtoolbox), and statistical analysis (e.g., MATLAB, R, SPSS)
Experience with research interests in visual cognition, reward processing, and ERPs. Evidence of research productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications and national or international conference proceedings. Excellent quantitative skills, and demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in MATLAB is highly desired.
Postdoctoral Fellowship - Community-Based Cross-Cultural HIV Research Among Youth (Job Opening Id 11520)
Description: The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in cross-cultural research in the area of pediatric psychology with a focus on child health and community-based interventions. The postdoc will work closely with the project leader and collaborators in the fields of medicine and public health on interdisciplinary research focused on addressing the global HIV crisis among youth. This will involve projects that incorporate principles of community-based participatory research in the local community as well as in low to middle income countries (e.g., the HIV SEERs Project: Stigma-reduction through Education, Empowerment, and Research). Other projects in which the post doc may be involved are in the areas of research ethics and decisional capacity among youth with HIV.
Doctoral degree in psychology, public health, or related field.
Pediatric research interests in the areas of HIV and/or global health among youth Experience conducting youth-focused research with diverse populations. Expertise in quantitative and mixed methods. Evidence of research productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications and national conference proceedings.
