Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society

The University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a non-tenured appointment to the faculty at the Assistant Professor level, with an expected start date of July 1, 2018. The successful candidate will be appointed to the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society and in one or more Departments at Berkeley (depending on the candidate’s background). The candidate will be expected to participate in the Religious Diversity Cluster of the Haas Institute and collaborate with the Chair to provide guidance and academic leadership in the field.

The goal of the Religious Diversity Cluster of the Haas Institute is to study the ways that religious diversity affects inclusiveness, fairness, tolerance, and other aspects of social cohesiveness, health, and well-being. The University seeks applications from those who study the nature and sources of religious diversity and the implications of this diversity for the economy, society, and polity. Illustrative areas of concern include but are not limited to the following:

The University encourages applications from social and behavioral scientists, humanist and historical scholars of religion, and cognitive scientists with a strong interest in the causes and consequences of religious diversity. The University also encourages applications from international area studies scholars with regional expertise on issues of religious diversity.
