Space Telescope Science Institute: Multiple Postdoctoral Researcher Positions in Astronomy Studies

The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) invites applications for postdoctoral researcher positions. Areas or research: Extragalactic Astronomy, Interstellar Medium Studies of External Galaxies, and Supernova Cosmology Studies.

STScI is a free-standing science center, located on the campus of The Johns Hopkins University and operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) for NASA.

STScI operates the science program for the Hubble Space Telescope and will conduct the science and mission operations for the James Webb Space Telescope. STScI supports other astronomy programs and conducts world-class scientific research.

STScI creates HST and JWST news, outreach, and education programs.

Total staff ~700: scientists, postdocs, engineers, administrators.

The nominal start date is Summer/Fall 2018; but, earlier start dates are possible. The initial appointment is for two years, with an expected renewal to 3 years (subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding). STScI, located on Johns Hopkins University Campus in Baltimore, Maryland, offers an excellent benefit package, competitive salaries, and a stimulating work environment. STScI’s pay is commensurate to the year of Ph.D.
