California State University, Fullerton: Tenure Track Statistics Position

Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Statistics at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2018.

Position

Applicants must have a solid theoretical and applied background in statistics. Expertise in computational statistics particularly in the areas of statistical learning and Big Data are highly desirable. Applicants with expertise in the area of actuarial science are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will contribute to the statistics community at Cal State Fullerton through teaching, research, professional activities, and service. Teaching responsibilities will include a wide spectrum of theoretical and applied courses in probability and statistics, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching may also include courses in the mathematics curriculum, depending on background and interest. Further responsibilities include conducting research resulting in publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, conducting faculty-student collaborative research, and advising students. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a transdisciplinary Center for Computational and Applied Mathematics within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Mathematics Department

The Mathematics Department has 32 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and offers an undergraduate degree program with concentrations in statistics, actuarial science, pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and mathematics education. The department also offers the following degree programs: M.S. in Statistics, M.A. in Applied Mathematics, and M.A. in Teaching Mathematics. The Statistics Program

The statistics faculty research programs include Bayesian statistics, statistical computing, spatial statistics, experimental design, and survival analysis. Faculty are active in application areas of neuroscience, geology, biostatistics, psychometrics, epidemiology, bioengineering, and finance. The Center for Computational and Applied Mathematics provides high performance computing to support faculty research.
