University of California at Davis: Faculty Position in Social Science and Political Ecology of Animal Agriculture

The University of California at Davis is pleased to announce the recruitment for an open-rank academic year (9-month) faculty position in the social science and political ecology of animal agricultural systems. The successful candidate will have appointments in the Departments of Human Ecology and Animal Science in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Criteria for appointment include: a Ph.D. or equivalent in geography, sociology, anthropology, environmental studies, science and technology studies, urban and regional planning, political science, public policy, economics, or closely related disciplines, a record of excellence in scholarly research, and demonstrable potential to establish a competitively-funded research program. The appointee will be responsible for teaching two undergraduate courses and one graduate seminar per year and be actively involved in undergraduate advising, curricular development and department and university service. The appointee is also expected to guide and mentor graduate students and participate in research and outreach/engagement programs consistent with the mission of the UC Agricultural Experiment Station. An interest in or willingness to undertake California-focused research would be desirable, as is experience with research which addresses the concerns of traditionally underrepresented groups. We are actively seeking faculty who aspire to educate a student body rich in diversity with respect to gender, ethnicity, first-generation students, socioeconomic status, and academic interests.

Applicants should submit materials via the following website: recruit.ucdavis.edu/apply/JPF01328. Additional inquiries can be directed to Ryan Galt, recruitment co-chair ([email protected]). The position will remain open until filled but to ensure consideration, applications should be received by December 16, 2016.
