Tenure Track Faculty Position

The Biological Sciences Department in the College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking a full-time, academic year, tenure track position in Genomics at the assistant professor rank, beginning September 7, 2017.

A Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or in a related field and evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching are required at time of hiring. Candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching across the curriculum, to a student-centered research program, and to teamwork and service within the department. An interest in eukaryotic genomes is preferred. Teaching responsibilities will include genetics (majors and non-majors) and bioinformatics; other possible courses include introductory biology, cell biology, molecular biology, genetic engineering or other undergraduate and graduate courses to meet department needs. The Biological Sciences Department offers programs leading to three Bachelor of Sciences degrees (Biological Sciences, Microbiology, and Marine Sciences), a Master of Arts in Biological Sciences, a Master of Science in Biological Sciences including a specialization in Regenerative Medicine, and minors in Biology, Biotechnology, and Microbiology. In keeping with the Learn by Doing tradition at Cal Poly, our undergraduates are required to participate in research projects through a faculty-facilitated senior project, in order to graduate. The department also offers courses to satisfy general education and breadth requirements.
