Degree: Ph.D. Chemistry
Placement: The White House, Office of Science and Technology Policy

Martinez Testimonial: With the help of a CHCI STEM Graduate Fellowship, I have been able to work at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy over the past year. Having just completed my PhD in bioorganic chemistry, it has been truly fascinating to learn more about federal agencies that help to fund and direct the path of scientific research in the United States. I have also been fortunate to develop my interpersonal skills on a daily basis, both through my interactions with political staff, who think and prioritize very differently than the scientists and students I had grown accustomed to working with, and through the professional enrichment activities CHCI hosts for all of its fellows on a weekly basis. I am proud to have made a small contribution to the Administration’s federal STEM education policy and its efforts to make science accessible and appreciated by everyday citizens.
