New York University: Tenure-track or Tenured Associate or Full Professor in Tissue Engineering / Repair Research

Department of Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a tenured/tenure track position, to start on September 1, 2019. New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States. NYU recently established the new Department of Biomedical Engineering, to build a bridge between its schools of engineering and medicine.

Our mission is to excel in research, teaching and entrepreneurship. We aim to inspire and educate engineers for the 21st century. Students at all levels are engaged in projects leading to new engineering approaches and technologies to promote human health. Biomedical Engineering is inherently multidisciplinary, and the new department reflects that breadth in its faculty, educational programs, and research. The NYU Department of Biomedical Engineering currently offers the MS and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering. Undergraduate programs are planned for the future.

We are committed to quality, integrity, and respect for each other. We take pride in our high numbers of women students and students who are the first in their family to go to college. We seek faculty who have a real passion for a culturally diverse environment. Tandon belongs to the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC), which assists with dual-career searches.

We are looking to hire tenure-track or tenured faculty at the Associate/Full Professor level in Biomedical Engineering, with particular emphasis on Tissue Engineering and Repair. Successful candidates are expected to interact closely with basic scientists and clinical faculty to develop collaborative and translational research projects. We seek individuals with a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline, a record of publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, leadership, curricular innovation, entrepreneurship, and excellent extramural funding record in areas of tissue engineering and repair. You should also demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring. Ample opportunities exist for scientific interactions and collaborations within the department and throughout the university, especially with NYU School of Medicine and NYU College of Dentistry and with other world-class institutions in the New York area. The successful applicant will receive a substantial start-up package, state-of-the-art research space and will have access to numerous core facilities that provide advanced technologies.
