Cornell University: Faculty Position in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering

The Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in strategic areas in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Of particular interest are candidates in the areas of Design, Haptics, Fluid and Thermal Sciences, and Solid Mechanics and Materials, although applications aligned with any of the School's strategic disciplines/applications will be considered.

We seek outstanding individuals engaged in research in Design, including mechanism design, design using programmable/smart/electronic materials, or design automation; Haptics, including sensing, perception, actuation and control associated with tactile interactions between humans, computers, and machines; Fluid and Thermal Sciences, including, but not limited to, the use of data-driven modeling, reduced-order modeling, uncertainty quantification, and high-performance computing to investigate multi-physics thermofluids problems of engineering relevance; Solid Mechanics and Materials, including computational mechanics, computational design of materials, and experimental mechanics, or related areas; and Other Strategic Areas aligned with the School's disciplines and applications.

Candidates must hold a doctorate in an appropriate field and are expected to establish an outstanding, externally funded research program as well as to contribute fully to both undergraduate and graduate instruction in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Applicants at the level of Assistant Professor are preferred. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
